Arthroplasty is an orthopaedic surgical technique where the articular surface of the joint, which has suffered from a degenerative process, is repaired or replaced. The great majority of cases show damaged bone or cartilage defects.
Arthrosis may be located in any joint of the body but the most frequent areas are the lower limbs. It usually affects the elderly although some pathologies may cause arthrosis in young people (rheumatoid arthritis, obesidad, previous trauma to the joint).
