TREATMENT FOR SPORTS AND CHRONIC INJURIES BY GROWTH FACTORS
Growth Factor Treatment has been increasing last years with such a great results, not only traumatologial injuries but haematological, oncological or aesthetic ones too. This treatment isolates proteins in blood to strengthen, accelerate and improve tissue regeneration.
This technique is very useful for structures with a bad vascularization like tendons, ligaments, fascia and cartilage. The treatment method is used both in acute injuries (sprains, muscle strain, bursitis, fasciitis) and chronic injuries (chondropathies, tendinitis, spur, chondromalacia, sports hernia, tennis elbow).
Every injury entails a tissue repair process called Healing. Tissue regeneration lies in obtaining neo-developed tissue supplied with similar mechanical and physical attributes to initial tissue. The guarantee of stimulating mechanisms of tissue regeneration consists of encouranging cell migration, proliferation and distinction, in a natural or artificial way.
The technique lies in extracting a small amout of blood from the patient (between 40 and 60ml.) It will be stored in test tubes and centrifuged. Thus blood is divided in its 3 main components:
- Platelet-poor plasma (PPP).
- Plasma similar to blood in number of platelets.
- Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which is the most interesting one because growth factors will arise from it.
Treatment consists of applying the extract plasma, which is rich in platelets, at damaged area level by infiltration (it may be necessary 1, 2 or 3 infiltrations) or in the same surgical intervention if it is an arthroscopy.
It is an autogenous product, that's why there are no risks of disease transmission.
This technique is used with top sportsmen thanks to our new weapon to reduce to half damaged tissue healing process.
